When the word Galentine’s crops up, images of binge eating pizza, chocolate and drinking copious amounts of alcohol whilst a cheesy rom-com plays in the background spring to mind. While some may think that they are treating themselves, a night in like this may do more harm than good, especially to your weight loss journey. If you’re spending this Valentine’s Day with a group of friends, encourage each other to be active and do something fun and empowering together, making sure you’re all giving your bodies the self- love it deserves:
- Valentine’s Day is in the middle of the week this year, so give yourself something to look forward to and book a weekend break with your closest friends. Take this time to relax and love yourself at a spa or during a pleasant walk in the countryside.
- Take the day off of work and hit the shops. All that walking around, carrying bags of gorgeous, new clothes and shoes is bound to work up a sweat!

- Go dancing with a friend or as a group. Try a new type of dance class, whether it’s a Zumba session or a Flamenco dancing lesson to get you moving and grooving whilst having some fun.
- Sign yourself up for a cooking class and learn some new, delicious recipes to make for your friends and family. Take the class with a friend to make the experience a lot more enjoyable with good company.
- Go to a trampoline park and have a jolly old time bouncing around and practicing some fun flips into a foam pit. This is a great cardio workout and so much more fun than running on a treadmill for half an hour – the best part is, it won’t even feel like exercise because it’s so much fun!
- Book a tennis court and challenge each other to a little bit of friendly competition.
- If you’re fortunate to live by the beach, take a nice long walk or run along it with a close friend and catch up with each other with the gentle sound of the sea and waves in the background.
