Scientific Approach
The main ingredient in Wegovy is semaglutide, which mimics the GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide 1) hormone.
This hormone is released from your gut after you eat, and targets the area of your brain (AKA, the hypothalamus) that regulates your appetite and keeps cravings at bay with just one weekly injection. It also leads to the stomach emptying much slower, which means you’ll stay fuller for longer.

Patients taking Wegovy weight loss injections will take five different doses throughout their programme – increasing their dose every couple of weeks for maximum effectiveness.
The Wegovy starting dose is 0.25mg, followed by 0.5mg, 1mg, 1.7mg and 2.4mg.

This is to allow your body to grow accustomed to the medication, before increasing the dose with approval from your medical professional.
Starting out on a higher dosage can result in unpleasant side effects, so it’s important to stick to the treatment timeline proposed by your medical professional.
