New Years Eve is a difficult night to stay healthy- the party food, finger buffets and the copious amounts of alcohol. To help avoid temptation and to help you prepare for a healthy New Years Eve, read these top tips:
.If you are hosting a party you have control over the food being served, instead of crisps and mini sausage rolls, try serving up some fresh fruit cups or veggies with a variety of low-calorie dips to help yourself and your guests avoid eating junk food.
.It also may be a good idea to have a separate fridge full of fresh fruit juices for those who aren’t drinking alcohol but still want to have something fun and healthy to drink.
.If you are attending a party, make sure you eat a good sized meal before you leave. This will mean you’re going to be less hungry at the actual party and help you keep off of the unhealthy foods. This is also helpful if you are planning on drinking later on that evening as you should never drink on an empty stomach.
.When you arrive at a party, don’t start eating or drinking straight away. Walk around for a little while and make the rounds before starting to eat or drink, this will help you pace yourself for the evening
.Drink plenty of water! Alcohol is a diuretic, which means it makes you need to use the bathroom more often, consequently dehydrating you. Make sure to take care of yourself and drink a glass of water for every 2 alcoholic drinks.
.When you’re at a New Years Eve party, make sure not to sit or stand right next to the food table as you will be more likely to snack throughout the night.
.If you want to avoid the party scene all together, gather a bunch of friends and host a pamper party with DIY manicures and at home face masks. Serve fruit cocktails and smoothies and have some healthy snacks on hand. This is great because you’re not tempted by party food or alcohol.
.To avoid just standing or sitting around all night, go dancing and shake off a few calories and have fun at the same time.
