Our Guide to avoiding those lingering chocolates this Easter!

Easter is fast approaching, your friends are bringing over chocolate in all sorts of shapes and sizes and the supermarkets are tempting you with their various foil-wrapped delicacies. But think again before you reach for the chocolate box this Easter, with the help of our top five tips to avoid the temptation.

  1. Think quality not quantity! Try buying a small bar of good quality chocolate, rather than a basketful of poor quality chocolate.
  2. Stick to higher percentage cocoa chocolate. The darker the chocolate, the less sugar and fat it contains. It’s bitter taste can cure chocolate cravings in just two squares. Contrary to popular belief dark chocolate is nutritious, has the ability to improve you health and lower your risk of heart disease, so there are benefits all round!
  3. Avoid the chocolate section in the supermarket at all costs. If you see chocolate you will be tempted to buy it, so this will eliminate the issue.
  4. If step 3 doesn’t quite go to plan, and you do decide to keep chocolates at home, put them in a really inconvenient place so it requires a lot of effort to get them out.
  5. Increase your intake of strongly flavoured plants foods such as ginger, fennel, garlic rocket, onion and mint. This can be whole, juiced or even as a flavoured tea. Strong flavours can counter the taste and craving for chocolate and sweets. They have such strong distinct tastes that you won’t want chocolate afterwards.
