With Summer fast approaching, it could only mean one thing…Festivals. From Bournemouth Sevens in May to Bestival in September, our Summers are becoming packed with all these wonderful events. However, for all you health conscious festival goers out there, fret no longer about greasy burgers and copious amounts of alcohol because here at The Slimming Clinic, we have collected our top tips to have an enjoyable yet healthy festival experience…
- “I want to drink and enjoy myself but I don’t want all those pesky calories”
Just because you’re conscious about your health does not mean you can’t have any fun… try drinking low calorie alcoholic drinks such as Vodka and soda water which comes in at a tasty 76 calories or why not opt for a Bloody Mary with your breakfast for a filling and low calorie start to your festival day!
- “How am I supposed to eat healthy at a festival when all I see is evil burger vans”
You may get caught up in the excitement of being at a festival and decide to throw your diet plan out of the window for a weekend but instead of doing that, try looking for healthier alternatives as many festivals now provide healthier food stands, such as protein rich smoothies and salads. Or if you are on a budget, preparation is key, so try and plan time for 3 meals a day. Also, you could bring a water cooler with you and you will be able to store fresh fruit and healthy snacks to eat throughout the weekend.
- “Can I still make time to exercise at a festival?
Of course! Many festivals now lay on exercise activities such as yoga or group morning runs so take advantage of these free but fun ways to stay on the health track! Not only that, what are festivals for? Dancing to music! Dancing to your favourite bands live must be the best workout there is – and you won’t even think you’re exercising! However, be sure to remember that at a festival, the day is long and arduous so make sure to remember to take times throughout the day to rest and regain your energy.
- “How do I keep myself on the health track when I’m surrounded by temptation all weekend”
Being at a festival does not have to ruin all your hard work! Just because you are surrounded by unhealthy food and lots of alcohol, does not mean you can’t stay strong. Keep your eyes on your goal and there’s no way you won’t have a happy, healthy weekend!
Keep your eyes on your goal this festival weekend because a healthier you is a happier you.
