We recently surveyed our patients to ask them about confident they felt and whether their confidence levels we related to their weight. Today we can reveal the results.
It’s clear that for many there is a link between weight and confidence. But rather than think of confidence being achieved when you have lost weight, we suggest your turn this on it’s head. The more confident you feel now and whilst you lose weight, the more successful your weight loss are likely to be.
So how can you build confidence whilst you lose weight:
- Acknowledge Progress: Celebrate small victories and recognise the positive changes you’ve made. It might be a clique but focus on the journey, not just the destination.
- Set Realistic Goals: Establish achievable milestones that align with your overall weight loss objectives. This can boost confidence as you hit each goal.
- Focus on Overall Well-being & Health: Remember that confidence is not just tied to weight. Prioritise health and well-being, engaging in activities that bring joy and fulfilment.
- Positive Self-Talk: Challenge negative thoughts and replace them with positive affirmations. Cultivate a mindset that appreciates your journey and the efforts you’re putting in
- Embrace Support Systems: Engage with family, friends, and professional support who can provide encouragement. Feeling understood and supported can significantly impact confidence levels.
