It can be difficult to know where to begin when your New Year resolution is simply ‘get fit’ or ‘lose weight’. Don’t restrict yourself from eating a single food. For example, don’t ban yourself from being able to eat chocolate or fries as this is most likely to backfire and result in binge eating. Allowing yourself certain treats now and again in a controlled portion size is totally fine, and will most likely help you stick to a healthier diet in your day to day life.

Or join a gym BEFORE January 1st to give yourself the time to workout a plan that is best suited for you based on what your gym can offer. This way, you can choose the best classes for you, talk to a personal trainer and take your time doing so in order to make your new years resolution to lose weight as effective as possible.

Go public. Make a Facebook post listing your goals so your friends can hold you accountable when these are not fulfilled. This is a great way to keep yourself motivated when beginning your weight loss journey.

Try Dry January. After the busy Christmas period of parties, meals out and drinking, give your body a rest and the chance to recharge in the new year by cutting out alcohol for the month. This will help with kick-starting your weight loss journey and healthy lifestyle as well as giving your liver a nice break.
