Nina Trapp's story
Weight Lost: 5.5 Stone*
When I have lost weight in the past, the weight has always crept back on - and more. I can honestly say that this was, by far, the best slimming experience I have ever had. I honestly don’t think I could have achieved what I have done without The Slimming Clinic and best of all I have kept the weight off!*
I like food. Always have, always will – and I was a boredom eater in complete denial. My weight has gone up and down for as long as I can remember. At my heaviest, I weighed 17.2 stone after the birth of my daughter and with the increase in photos being taken – I hated how I looked. I quickly decided that enough was enough and I needed to shift this weight now and forever!! My partner had also recently proposed so if this wasn’t an incentive, I don’t know what was! My friend had asked whether I had heard about The Slimming Clinic and when I looked on their website, I really related to some of the previous slimmers’ stories. I’ve previously tried all kinds of diets before – calorie controlled diets, meal replacement shakes and herbal alternatives and although I did lose weight, it went back on really quickly and even more!!! I read more into the weight loss programme with The Slimming Clinic and read about the prescribed medication - nowadays, there is a stigma attached to ‘slimming medication’ and when I first read about the treatment at The Slimming Clinic I was apprehensive. I always run things past my parents as well but when I mentioned the name of the medication I was surprised to hear that my Dad was familiar with it which instantly made me feel better about it as well. So I went for it - I joined The Slimming Clinic and haven't looked back! I have not felt restricted to certain foods, or even food in general! It’s as if the medication has taught me to eat at the right times and not all day!
I don’t have any specific downfalls with food (I’ll eat anything!) but always found it hard to say no. I was always easily influenced so if someone even suggested the word takeaway, I’d already be searching through the menu! Having an almost 3 year old as well, there’s never enough time in the day so by the time it came round to my dinner time, I looked for the easiest/quickest option. I LOVE trying on and buying new and different clothes which I previously wouldn’t have had the confidence to wear and now I can even share some of my friends clothes which I haven’t been able to do since I was about 14! Before, I hated always going straight to the back of the rail for the bigger sizes when shopping for new clothes. I actually now can tell when I am full and feel that I can say no to those tempting foods if I’m just simply not hungry. I used to think about food all day every day and now I even have the energy to go for walks, go to the gym and spend more quality time with my family doing things.

How much did you weigh at your heaviest and how much do you weigh now?
17.2 stone was my heaviest weight and I now weigh 11.6 stone.
What are your three best dieting tips you'd like to share?
1. Set yourself little goals – i.e. buy a dress in a smaller size and arrange a night out in the future and get yourself down to that size dress!
2. Do it with a friend – a little healthy competition doesn’t hurt anyone!
3. Throw out old clothes – if it’s too big, sell it on eBay and make some money for new clothes!
4. Take progress photos – a close friend encouraged me to do this and I was so against it but when I could see the results in front of me, it was a huge encouragement to continue what I was doing and work harder!!

What would you say to someone who wanted to lose a large amount of weight?
I would recommend the slimming program with The Slimming Clinic. The support & advice you receive during the program is so helpful and you can see where you need to make the changes in your current diet and routine.

Now that you’ve lost the weight, how do you plan to keep it off?
I actually have a few ‘before’ photos around the kitchen to remind me of how I used to feel then and it makes me ask myself ‘Are you actually hungry or are you just bored?’. The changes I have made during the weight loss with The Slimming Clinic have become a part of my lifestyle now and I will continue with it because it’s a happier and healthier lifestyle.

What food did you eat on an average day before you lost weight?
Snacks. All day. Crisps, chocolate, the list is endless really. And although I can't say I never eat those now – I've just learnt about portion sizes and to have everything in moderation.
With so many diets on the market, why did you choose The Slimming Clinic?
Slimming with The Slimming Clinic was something that I had never tried but I only ever heard good reviews about. I really related with the previous slimmers and thought – why not!?
Are there any foods that you completely avoid and never eat?
I really try not to snack between meals – unless on something like a piece of fruit, cashew nuts or I'll have a drink instead.

What are the best things you have found about losing weight?
- My self esteem
- Buying new clothes
- Doing more with my friends and family

Which celebs are your 'fitness' idols? Is there anyone you've looked up to during your weight-loss journey?
When I was losing weight, I followed other people losing weight on Instagram and Twitter and found that seeing their progress photos was really motivating.
