Do you enjoy Yoga, but wish it was more energetic and upbeat?  Well you’re in for a treat!  Voga is a new fitness craze which is the fusion of Yoga and Vogueing – the 80s dance form of striking dramatic and expressive poses.  Juliet Murrell, who developed the fitness class suggests that the “angular poses of Vogueing resembles the physical alignment of Yoga” so they work great together as a dynamic fitness routine.

Yoga, which is an ancient discipline, facilitates the development of strength, flexibility and aids relaxation.  The focus on breathing during Yoga can assist physical and mental wellbeing which in turn helps your immune system, sleep quality and the reduction of migraines.  Vogueing aims to provide you with a sense of empowerment and confidence so uniting Yoga with Vogueing provides an upbeat and fun atmosphere for a cardiac workout whilst developing strength and maintaining focus.  Voga is performed to an 80s soundtrack, so you could be striking model poses to Madonna whilst seriously toning your arms at the same time.

Fans of the film ‘Paris Is Burning’ – you will love it, the 80s New York drag scene is where Murrell got her inspiration from.  It’s also super glam and is held in nightclubs so it won’t even feel like you are exercising but just having fun with friends!

Each tune generates a different flow so if you usually get bored easily whilst exercising – boredom is one thing that you certainly won’t get whilst Voga-ing.  So grab your leg warmers, your neon leggings, breathe, stretch and vogue.
