With toffee apples, candy floss, hot dogs and pizza all on offer at most bonfire nights around the country, you may be thinking how on earth you’re going to stick to your healthy diet with all of this temptation around?  Well, we’ve picked out the healthiest selection of foods to go for so that you can have fun, get involved and feel fabulous that you’ve been strong enough to stay within your daily calorie allowance:

  • Soup – most public bonfire nights will have soup on offer. For me, soup is the perfect option as it’s low fat, low calorie but high in vitamins plus it will keep you lovely and warm from the inside out.
  • Eat before you go and grab a hot drink – this way, you won’t feel the need to go for a hot dog or burger but can still satisfy your taste buds, keep warm and also keep feeling full for the duration of the event. Although do be careful of your choice of drink – full fat hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows probably will not keep you safe from an overload of calories.
  • As bonfire night is so close to Halloween, try out any pumpkin snacks. Pumpkins are delicious, low in calories, high in Vitamin A and Iron and will keep you in the Autumn spirit.
  • If you cannot resist something a little bit more filling, opt for a jacket potato stuffed with chilli. At less than 300 calories, full of iron and deliciously hearty this option is sure to satisfy any cravings.  Just stay clear of the sour cream and cheese which could double your calorie load.
