Spring is all about rejuvenation and re-growth, so to celebrate this wonderfully refreshing season, we’ve found some light, delicious smoothie recipes that you can whiz up for breakfast on those lovely sunny mornings.

1.Sunshine Smoothie

This recipe is low-calorie, gluten-free and suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

To make this smoothie, simply whiz up the following ingredients in a blender:

  • 500ml carrot juice, chilled
  • 200g pineapple (fresh or canned)
  • 2 bananas, broken into chunks
  • Small piece of ginger, peeled
  • 20g cashew nuts
  • Juice of 1 lime

This recipe is 171 kcal per serving and serves 3.

2. Green Smoothie

This recipe is 329 kcal and packed full of plenty of nutritious ingredients:

You will need:

  • 250ml of almond milk
  • 1 tbsp ground flaxseed
  • 1 tsp maca powder (optional)
  • Pinch of ground cinnamon
  • 1 Medjool date, stoned
  • 1 small ripe banana
  • Handful of spinach
  • 1 tbsp almond butter

Method:

  1. Pour the milk into a high-speed blender and then add the ground flaxseed and the cinnamon. Add the remaining ingredients then blitz until smooth.

3. Heart Helper Smoothie

Another low-calorie delicious smoothie is this beautiful blend of berries, beetroot and ginger. This recipe is dairy-free, gluten-free and suitable for vegetarians and vegans, at only 88 kcal per serving!

Just pop into a blender:

    • 2 small raw beetroots (peeled and roughly chopped)
    •  1 apple (peeled, quartered and cored
    • 50g blueberries
    • 1 tsp grated ginger

Top up the mixture with 300ml of water and blend it all up for a delicious smoothie.

4. Afternoon Pick-Me-Up Smoothie

Quick and easy to make plus it’s gluten-free and perfect for Spring!

You will need:

  • 500ml unsweetened almond milk
  • 2 tbsp almond butter
  • 6 prunes
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 small ripe banana

Method:

  1. In a blender, blend the almond milk with the almond butter, prunes, cinnamon and banana.
  2. Chill in the fridge until ready to drink. (will keep for 2 days in the fridge)

This recipe is 250 kcal per serving.
