Ginger & Lemon shots:

A quick fix, these take a minute to make and just a few seconds to drink. The ginger acts as a soother for the digestive system and the lemon is extremely alkalinising. Make these when you’re feeling especially run down!

Ingredients:

– 1/2 a lemon

– 1 large knob of ginger, about 50g

Peel the ginger, then put it into a juicer and collect the juice. Squeeze the lemon either by hand or using a citrus press. Mix the juice of the ginger and lemon together, then drink the shot – don’t sip it though as it’s not the most delicious thing!

One for breakfast…

With banana’s, oats, berries, almond milk and a handful of spinach, this thick and creamy smoothie works as a brilliant substitute for breakfast as well as giving you a revitalising glow from the greenery. Ella also adds Chia seeds (optional) in order to provide fibre, protein and omega-3.

Serves 1

– 1 banana

– 1 big handful of spinach

– 2 handfuls of frozen berries (these keep it cool and are much cheaper than fresh berries, but fresh berries and a little ice work perfectly instead)

– 1/2 a cup of almond milk

– 3 tablespoons of oats

– 1 tablespoon of chia seeds

Simply peel the banana, pour everything into your blender, and blend until smoothe!

Summer smoothie

With the first rays of sun, why not taste a bit of long-awaited Summer with this blend of peach, strawberry and banana. Peaches are full of vitamin A which promotes healthy skin and eyes, as well as fibre which is essential in regulating cholesterol levels. With all these benefits and more, a peach filled smoothie is an essential snack!

Serves 2

– 2 frozen ripe bananas

– 2 peaches

– a dozen strawberries

– 1 cup of almond milk

– a few ice cubes (optional)

Optional – a tablespoon each of ground flaxseeds and chia seeds

Simply peel the bananas and cut them into slices, placing the slices into the freezer for at least two hours. Once you’re ready to make your smoothie cut the tops of the strawberries (these can be frozen too for an hour or so before making too, but be sure to cut the top off before freezing.) Then cut the peach to remove the stone, keeping the skin on. Place all the fruit in a blender with the almond milk and ice and blend until smooth, depending on how runny you like it you might like to add more liquid, either more almond milk or a little water.
