Breakfast 300 calories and under:

All the recipes in this blog are 300 calories and under and are full of nutrients and vitamins, helping support your weight loss diet.

If you want to eat a healthy breakfast and not overload on fats and calories, these should give you plenty of options!

 

Cereal or Muesli Breakfast ideas:

Cereals are great healthy breakfast recipes because they are light, tasty, full of fibre and you don’t have to cook or make them! Additionally, they give us brilliant fuel for weight loss exercise – something we should all do more of to supplement our weight loss diet!

To add more taste and variety to your cereals, top them up with healthy foods such as nuts and fruits. Here are some lovely cereal ideas you can try this week!

 

Banana Cereal

Bowl (30g) of high fibre cereal (e.g. Shreddies or Shredded Wheat) with 200ml skimmed milk and a sliced banana.

Greek Yogurt Muesli

Mix 2 tbs of low sugar muesli with a small pot of low-fat Greek yogurt. Top up with a hand full of berries and sliced almonds. Drizzle a little honey on top and enjoy your weight loss diet!

Apple Muesli:

Add 100ml of skimmed milk to 4 tbsp of low sugar muesli. Top with 1 chopped apple.

Fibre infused Weetabix

2 Weetabix with 100 ml skimmed milk and 1 tbsp of dried fruit (raisins / sultanas / apricots)

Strawberry crunch

Medium bowl of sliced strawberries with 3tbsp reduced-fat Greek yogurt and 2tbsp muesli.

 

With these delicious meals filling your stomach, you’ll be prepared for some weight loss exercise whether you choose yoga, HIIT,  a walk around the block or The Slimming Clinic’s resistance band workout!

 

Toast breakfast recipes:

When selecting your toast for these breakfasts, be sure to choose whole grain bread products and low-fat spreads for all our healthy breakfast recipes.

Peanut Butter & Fruit Toast

1 slice of whole grain toast topped with 1tbsp peanut butter, plus 1 individual tub of fat free yogurt and half a pink grapefruit.

Avocado Toast 

1 slice of toasted wholemeal bread, topped with half a ripe avocado that has been thinly sliced, drizzle with a little olive oil, black sesame seeds and chilli flakes if you want a bit of spice in your breakfast!

 

Eggs breakfast:

Eggs are brilliant for breakfast when on a weight loss diet.

Not only are they high in protein and rich in vitamin D, but many studies have recommended them as part of a healthy way to lose weight. People having eggs for breakfast were consuming up to 415 calories less per day. Each egg contains less than 80 calories, which makes it perfect for your weight loss diet!

 

Classic scrambled eggs

Scramble 2 eggs with a knob of olive oil spread and a splash of skimmed milk and serve on a slice of whole meal toast.

Shakshuka Eggs

Fry onions, red and yellow peppers in a pan over a medium heat for 8-10 minutes. Add in 3 garlic cloves, a tsp of cumin, coriander seeds and paprika and fry for one more minute. Add in a tin of tomatoes and 100g spinach. Lower to a simmer and cook for 10 mins. Make 4 holes in the tomato mix and crack an egg into each hole. Cover with a lid and cook gently for 8-10mins until the eggs are cooked to your liking.

Healthy Eggs & Mushroom

Slice 250g mushrooms and crush a garlic clove. Add to a frying pan and cook until the mushrooms are soft. Add in 160g kale and cook until wilted. Crack in 4 eggs to the mixture and fry until cooked.

As one of our weight loss tips, be sure to stick with whole grain bread products and low-fat spreads if adding them to these recipes!

 

Satisfying Porridge:

Porridge is a slow burning complex carbohydrate that will make you feel full for a long time. Make it with skimmed milk, no sugar and don’t overload with the toppings. It is also an excellent source of fibre and could help lower your cholesterol. It comes highly recommended as a breakfast for weight loss and is one of our weight loss tips.

Carrot Cake Porridge

Take 40g original porridge oats and mix in half a grated carrot, 1 tbsp raisins, 1/4tsp of cinnamon and a pinch of nutmeg. Stir in 1/2tsp brown sugar and mix well with water. Cook in the microwave until the consistency of your liking.

Baked Banana Porridge 

Heat the oven to 180 degrees. Mash half a banana and mix it into 50g porridge oats with a 1/4tsp cinnamon and 175ml water. Pour the mixture into a small baking dish and scatter half the remaining banana on top. Bake for 20-5 minutes until the liquid has been absorbed.

Porridge is especially great at providing you the energy needed for weight loss exercise.

 

Enhance Your Weight Loss Diet With A Smoothie for breakfast:

As far as healthy breakfast recipes go, you won’t get more delicious than smoothies, and these can help give you an energy boost for weight loss exercise when on a weight loss diet as well as provide a speedy and convenient breakfast on the go!

Simple smoothie

250ml skimmed milk, blended with 1 small peeled banana, 2 tsp honey, 2 handfuls of raspberries and 1tsp wheatgerm. Chill before serving.

Oat berry smoothie

Mix together a selection of berries with a banana, a small pot of low-fat yogurt and 50ml skimmed milk. Whizz in a blender. Add a tbsp of oats and pour into a container or flask. Keep in the fridge until you’re ready to drink!

 

Bagel yummy breakfast:

Cream cheese and berries bagel

Toast a whole meal bagel and top with low fat cream cheese. Add an assortment of berries like strawberries, blackberries and blueberries and drizzle with a small amount of honey.
